Andrea Galeotti joins Economics Department
The EUI is delighted to announce that Andrea Galeotti will be taking up a Professorship in the Department of Economics. He comes to the EUI from the University of Essex, UK, where he was Professor of Economics.
Galeotti’s main area of research is the economics of networks, and in 2011 he was awarded a major ERC-Starting grant in 2011 for a project titled “Networks, Markets and Organizations”.
He is an Editor of the Economic Journal and is an Associate Editor, among others, of the Journal of Economic Theory. He has recently finished editing The Oxford Handbook of the Economics of Networks which will be released in March 2016.
Speaking to EUI Life, Galeotti declares ‘’the Economic Department of the EUI is a top research environment producing a high quality PhD programme. I am honoured to be part of this group.’’
While at the EUI he plans to work on models to understand how social connections affect information flow in organisations and society. ‘’I am also interested in how firms incorporate social and network effects in the design of their marketing strategies, like pricing, product design and advertising’’, he adds.
