Ángel Alcalde publishes an account of Franco’s veterans

PhD researcher Ángel Alcalde has published his new book Los Excombatientes Franquistas (1936-1965).

In the book, Alcalde argues that the strong identity and benefits bestowed upon the veterans of the Spanish Civil war were manipulated by Franco’s fascist regime and used to hold power over a generation of former fighters for decades after the war finished.

Ángel Alcalde is currently studying with the Department of History and Civilization.
