Sociologist Elizabeth Cooksey hands over the presidency of the SLLS to EUI Professor Hans-Peter Blossfeld on 10 October 2014

SPS Department Professor Hans-Peter Blossfeld became the new President of the Society for Longitudinal and Life Course Studies (SLLS), on 10 October 2014, in Lausanne. He will hold office until 2017.

The SLLS is the leading academic organization promoting the interdisciplinary understanding of life courses in modern societies. It stimulates the collaboration of longitudinal researchers all over the world and aims to promote how to best exploit the potential scientific and policy value of findings within and across societies. The SLLS  has more than 300 members and unites the leading longitudinal research institutions across all disciplines in 21 countries.

Professor Blossfeld is currently the Principal Investigator of the “Education as a Lifelong Process – Comparing Educational Trajectories in Modern Societies” and “Changes in gender-specific educational trajectories and their consequences for job entry and careers of men and women in Germany” projects within the Comparative Life Course and Inequality Research Centre (CLIC) at the EUI.
