The EUI Rowing Team, fresh from their victory at the De Gasperi Schuman Cup last month, have triumphed again with a strong performance in Vienna’s Wienerachter rowing races.

The EUI team competed in a five-kilometre race, rowing 2.5 kilometres upstream in the Donaukanal in central Vienna, before turning and rowing a further 2.5 kilometres downstream to the finish line.

With four men, four women and a coxswain, EUI’s team performed excellently, finishing second in their category and placing 27th out of 38 overall – a great accomplishment at a competition of this level.

During the competition, EUI raced against boats from across Europe, including several teams who had competed in the De Gasperi Schuman Cup in Florence in April.

Iseabail Rowe, one of the EUI Rowing Team captains, expressed her pride at their debut performance in the competition. She said: “We are very pleased! It is the first time the EUI has ever competed in Austria, or in a race of this nature. We will definitely be heading back next year for a second try!”
