A festive holiday evening

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the EUI, as staff and researchers wind down at the end of a busy 2016.

During the Christmas Event on December 15th, members of the EUI community enjoyed an array of festive treats. Throughout the day, the cloister was busy as artisans set up stalls for the Christmas market. In the afternoon, President Renaud Dehousse welcomed one and all to the EUI with a reception of mulled wine, panettone, roasted chesnuts and mandarin oranges.

Visitors also were welcomed by various artists and musicians.  The Sala della Colonna was packed as EUI members crowded in to hear a diverse concert from the EUI Choir and a number of extremely talented individuals. Professor Laura Lee Downs impressed those gathered with her bold soprano, and Rasmus Hoffman performed a delightful jazz set on the piano. After researcher Kasper Drazewski led the crowd in a cheerful rendition of the Sinatra classic, White Christmas, the audience hurried upstairs to the Refectory for the EUI Theatre Group’s performance of The Little Prince. Law researcher Irene Otero Fernández was delightful as the fox, whose sage words led the awestruck Little Prince himself, Luigi Pedreschi, back to his rose.

The EUI wishes all members and alumni a very merry Christmas, and a happy new year.
