The 8th Graduate Conference in European History (GRACEH) has been held at the Department of History and Civilization, focusing on ‘The State of European History: Ideas, Norms and Practices from Early Modern Times to the Present’.

The conference is held to give postgraduate students a chance to discuss and compare ideas with peers and senior academics. This year GRACEH received over 100 applications and chose 36 students to take part and converse on a wide range of themes.

The event also included lectures by Regina Grafe, Professor of Early Modern History of Europe at the EUI; by Socrates Petmezas, Professor of Economic and Social History at the University of Crete; and by Tara Zahra, Professor of East European History at the University of Chicago, a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the Department of History and Civilization.
