Cristina Blanco Sío-López (HEC, 2003) is glad to announce the publication of a special issue of Regions and Cohesion. Journal of the Consortium for Comparative Research on Regional Integration and Social Cohesion (RISC). The special Winter 2015 (5:3) issue, of which she was guest editor and scientific coordinator, is entitled ‘Policy Innovation, Regional Integration and Sustainable Democracy Building: The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as Challenges and Vehicles.’ The journal is published by the Consortium for Comparative Research on Regional Integration and Social Cohesion (RISC) and Berghahn Journals.

Relatedly, some of Blanco Sío-López’s photographic work was selected for the ‘World Family Portrait’ Photography Award 2015 by the Consortium for Comparative Research on Regional Integration and Social Cohesion (RISC) and by Berghahn Journals (New York, Oxford).

‘The Teeming Void’, included here, addresses creative resilience in post-austerity Portugal; ‘Caressing the Ground’ calls for reflection on the sustainable character of indigenous communities in Bolivia; and ‘The Edge of Time’ touches on the significance of the fall of the Berlin Wall as a fundamental historical turning point.
