Journalism Award for Olivier Roy
Professor Olivier Roy has received a Special Recognition Award from the Anna Lindh Foundation at the Mediterranean Journalist Awards dinner in London.
The Foundation states “We chose Dr Roy because, in such complicated international context, he helps us with his insightful analysis of the Euro-Mediterranean region to understand better the news beyond the purely journalistic approach.”
The Award Ceremony brought together more than 100 international media experts and civil society representatives, in addition short-listed journalists. The Anna Lindh Mediterranean Journalist Awards began in 2005 to reward reporting across cultures and on issues related to cultural diversity and social change.
Professor Roy was also invited to take part in a roundtable alongside Thomson Reuters Foundation and the University of Westminster’s Arab Media Institute and the Media Diversity Institute to discuss “How Foreign Media Coveys Arab News”, about confronting different terminologies, narratives and professional constrains.
