To celebrate 500 years since Niccolὸ Machiavelli wrote ‘The Prince’, Professor Martin Scheinin and researcher Harri Ruohomäki are organising a Round Table Conference on 18-19 October.

The programme of the conference will consist of three sessions, with speakers representing the multidisciplinary perspectives of Machiavelli’s work including constitutional law, political science, history and philosophy.

The events on Friday 18 October will take place at Albergaccio Machiavelli, in Sant’Andrea in Percussina, just south of Florence. The village includes Casa Machiavelli where Machiavelli wrote ‘The Prince’ in 1513 and which houses a museum devoted to him. Today Casa Machiavelli is a functioning wine producer, and the programme will include a tour of the museum and a wine tasting. There will be a shuttle bus provided for transport to Sant’Andrea in Percussina

The event is co-organised by the EUI, the International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL) and Norwegian Centre of Excellence PluriCourts and is open to all EUI members.

Attendance is free, but registration is required.
