SPS alumna Marina Calloni, Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Milan ‘Bicocca’, writes to update us on an event involving the Eliminate Domestic Violence Global Foundation (EDV GF).  Nominated as ‘acting Ambassador’ to EDV GF in Italy, Calloni will give the introduction to a special session at Milan’s Film Festival Forum Diritti Umani , which takes place at the Triennale from 3-8 May 2016.

On Wednesday, 4 May at 14.00,  Calloni will present ‘Tornata alla vita dopo la guerra e la schiavitù. Testimonianza di Nadia Murad Basee Taha’.

In the session, Nadia Murad Basee Taha, a 21 year-old woman of Yazidi origins, will be present to discuss her global mission to denounce the genocide and crimes against humanity committed against the Yazidi people.  Herself an escaped victim, she is determined to raise awareness in the world community of the abuses suffered by her people, with a special appeal to young Muslims.

The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 14.00-16.00 in the Aula Magna, Edificio U6, Piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo 1, Milano.  English, Italian and Arabic translators will translate the event.
