Professor Richard Rose, Visiting Fellow at the Schuman Centre and recipient of a doctorate honoris causa from the EUI in 2010, has been appointed Fellow to the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

He joins a cohort of 62 new Fellows, who will be inducted in May 2019. The Fellows, amongst other duties, provide impartial policy advice and expertise, and help build academic relationships between Scotland and institutions overseas.

Professor Rose, whose research at EUI is titled “The Challenges of National Referendums for the Authority and Legitimacy of the European Union”, is also a member of the Politics faculty at the University of Strathclyde Glasgow.

The President of the Royal Society, Professor Dame Anne Glover, said “The calibre of our Fellows never ceases to amaze me and this year is no different. For such a small country we surpass ourselves with the talent and expertise that exists across our academic, cultural and business landscape.”
