Professor Donatella della Porta has been elected to Academia Europaea, a non-governmental European Academy of Humanities, Letters and Sciences. Membership in the Academy is by invitation only, following a peer review selection process. Its members aim collectively ‘to promote learning education and research’.
The Swiss Chair Professor in Federalism and Democracy will spend the academic year at the celebrated US institution.
Four professors will join the Department of Political and Social Sciences (SPS) this September, bringing with them research projects and expertise in areas such as Islamic extremism and European education.
Professor Pepper D Culpepper from the EUI’s Department of Political and Social Sciences has been awarded the 2012 Stein Rokkan Prize in Comparative Social Science Research, for his 2011 work ‘Quiet Politics and Business Power: Corporate Control in Europe and Japan’.
