EUI president-elect meets Pope Benedict XVI

The EUI’s president-elect met with Pope Benedict XVI in Rome on 30 January.

Joseph Weiler, currently Joseph Straus Professor of Law at New York University, will take up the EUI presidency in September.

In addition to the audience with the Pope, during his Rome visit Weiler was awarded a Cavaliere di Gran Croce from Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and a laurea honoris causa in European Studies from the University of Rome 3.
